Ultra Hero Fact File 1: Ultraman Son of the Commissioner of the Space Security Service and a teacher at Ultra Elementary School, Ultraman was born in the Land of Light, in Nebula M78. By the age of 20,000 he was working as a professor at Space University, as well as being a part of the Space Garrison. It was then, circa 1966, that something occurred that would change his life, and earth, forever. Pursuing Bemular, a Kaiju who was fleeing the Kaiju Graveyard, Ultraman's Travel Sphere crashed into a Mini VTOL craft piloted by one Hayata Shin, second in command of the SSSP Japan Branch. Remorseful for accidentally causing the man's death, Ultraman merged his body with his, granting him new life. Ultraman remained with Hayata for some time, and Hayata would, if Kaiju proved too tough for SSSP to defeat, use the Beta Capsule provided to him by Ultraman to return to the hero's form and battle the enemies, provided his 3 minutes active time did not run out. Once his Colour Timer started to flash, Ultraman would use one of his finishing blows to destroy the enemy, typically the Specium Ray or the Ultra Slash. When the Zetton Seijin came to attempt to conquer earth with their ultimate Kaiju, Zetton, Ultraman was defeated and killed, but the SSSP were able to defeat it. When Zoffy came to take him home for medical treatment, Ultraman was convinced to leave the defence of earth to the humans, and Zoffy gave a new life to Hayata, separating the pair, and took Ultraman with him back to the Land of Light. Hayata was left with no memory of what had happened between his crash and when Ultraman left, leaving the possibility that Ultraman had been acting as him the whole time. In one universe, 40 years later there had been no further sightings of Ultraman, until one day Hayata and his colleagues were reunited. Ultraman appeared to Hayata, and gave him the Beta Capsule, for the day that was coming. In another universe, Ultraman soon returned and merged with Hayata again. Lacking confidence due to his recent battle, he was eventually reinvigorated with the aid of the SSSP and was able to temporarily split into multiple copies, and then overpower the new Zetton's barrier. In the main M78 timeline, Ultraman was next seen circa 1971, having been made head of the Space Garrison's Milky Way arm. Appearing in the form of Hayata, he may have taken Hayata's form as his own, or at some point come back together with him. (I personally prefer the latter). Together with Ultraseven, he worked to free Ultraman Jack, who had been captured by Nackle Seijin, and later encouraged Jack to battle with the new Zetton. During Ace's time on earth Ultraman was involved in the battle on Planet Golgotha, and later the battle against the Hipporito Seijin. After the battle with Grand King, he aided Taro in retrieving the Ultra Bell, and returned to earth in the form of Hayata to meet together with the other brothers, this became the battle with Temperor Seijin. He later struggled to battle Tyrant on Neptune, but was defeated. He was one of the Ultra Brothers tricked by the Ultra Key incident, but when the truth was revealed was convinced to leave it to Leo. After perhaps a decade away from earth, Ultraman and the 4 Ultra Brothers fought with U-Killersaurus. Unable to defeat the Choju, they chose to sacrifice their power to seal it beneath the waters of Kobe, and spent the next 20 years trapped on earth in human form. Their time trapped came to an end in 2006, when Mebius came to Kobe, and met his predecessors. When Mebius was captured soon after, the 4 decided to risk their lives to save him, unfortunately leading to their own capture and U-Killersaurus' release, and its subsequent defeat. Hayata remained on earth for at least a while, helping the younger Ultra battle Mephilas Seijin, and helping restore the sun. Many years later, Ultraman was defeated on planet Boris and trapped in stone. Saved by the young Reiyonix, Rei, he was restored in time to ensure the Space Pendragon escaped the planet's destruction. Not that long after, he and Seven helped Rei to fight the Reiblood Seijin. Rei was able to repay the favour during the Belial crisis, Ultraman, in the form of Hayata was one of the few not rendered immobile by the theft of the Plasma Spark. Taking command in the eventual battle, he was able to ensure the Plasma Spark was returned. Soon after he would again defend his home from an attack caused by Belial, and would assist in the defense of Future Earth to the Kaiju Weapons. Trapped as a Spark Doll in the Dark Spark War, Ultraman was one of several Ultra Warriors trapped in the possession of the evil behind his imprisonment, leading to his power being misused by an individual tainted by darkness. Soon after, his powers were used by Kuno Chigusa in an effort to save her friend, and he would lend Chigusa his power on two further occasions. 2 years later, he and his brothers would grant Taro, and by extension Ginga, the power to continue their battle. Some time after this he was restored at the Land of Light. Another Ultraman, who lived as Hayata, was married to Akiko and had a daughter, Rena. During the events that threatened his world, he remembered himself, and was seen to leave earth with his brothers in a Jet VTOL. In the Ultra Flare Universe, Ultraman was a celebrated hero throughout the universe, as recalled by Fanton Seijin Gourman, who had supposedly witnessed him use the Beta Capsule. During the Zaigorg Crisis, he was summoned forth from the Stone of Bharaji, and helped to defeat Gorg Fire Golza, as well as granting X his power. With X restored after the battle, the two left earth to continue to protect the universe.
